Hey everyone. Jobayer here. Do you forget your WordPress password and you want to reset your WordPress password using phpMyAdmin? In this article, I am going to show you how to reset your WordPress password through phpMyAdmin.
First, Log in to the cPanel of your web hosting account. Once you logged in go to the databases section and click on phpMyAdmin.
After you enter your phpMyAdmin, you need to select your WordPress database from the left side. If you have multiple databases, you need to pick the right database. If you don’t know what your database name is then the easiest way to find out is going back to your cPanel. Now open your File manager select public_html and then find your website installation folder if you have any. then open the folder and find the wp-config.php file. Go ahead and view that file and in there you will see a line like this :
/** The name of the database for WordPress */
For me, the database name is – abcd_wxy1. So if you have multiple databases in your phpMyAdmin, this is how you find the right one.
Now click on your database. That’s load all the tables in that database. The next thing you need to do is look for the ‘wp_users’ table in this list and click on the ‘Browse’ link next to it.
Here you can find here all the information about users on your site.
From the user’s list find your user_login and click on edit. Now you can see a form with all the user information fields.
You will need to change the value in the user_pass field and replace it with your new password. Now under the function column, beside the user_pass field select MD5 from the drop-down menu and then click on the go button.
Congratulations, you have successfully reset your WordPress password. Now go back to your login area and login to your WordPress site using the new password. I hope this article will help you to reset your WordPress password through phpMyAdmin. If you have any questions, suggestions or contributions, I would be happy to answer them in the comments.
